Latin American Studies Course

The Latin American Studies Course in this Master’s Program is one of few programs in area studies in this region in Japan. Special features of the course are its balanced interdisciplinary approach and wide usage of Spanish and Portuguese in classes. Most students have the opportunity to study abroad in the actual environment of their particular region of interest. Inter-university agreements between the University of Tsukuba and the Colegio de Mexico, as well as the University of Chile and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, provide opportunities for students to deepen their knowledge through exchange programs. Graduates are active in research and teaching in universities both in Japan and abroad, in various renowned research institutes (for example, the Institute of Developing Economies) as well as governmental organizations (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and main private enterprises.
